"Travelling along the river in one of the lodge's boats you will see giant river otters and even more birds. In this respect, it is a wildlife paradise. The lodge itself consists of a number of ensuite rooms which are fitted out with single and double beds, fresh bed linen, and very clean. Plenty of hot water for showering as well....you will need this with the high temperatures approaching 40 degrees (...) The food is really very good and quite varied and again all very clean.. Considering the location and remoteness, the management and staff do an excellent job in running this operation as well as they do. As with all wildlife tours of this type you will need a first class guide......ask for Marcos Felix. He is the man! Thoroughly recommended"

"We had Marcos Felix as our guide the whole time and he was absolutely perfect. He knew the areas and wildlife so well that our trip was immeasurably enhanced by our having him with us. From random fauna rich roads (that weren't even on the map) through farmland to organising a birthday cake for my wife in the middle of nowhere, to manually dragging through reeds to reach otherwise unvisited lagoons on the River Pixiam, to spotting a group of giant otters in the river outside the breakfast room half way through breakfast, he never stopped working the whole time – Marcos, we're so grateful for your efforts and I'm sorry for suggesting we skipped lunch that day (no one does lunch like Marcos)!"

Marcus is probably the best guide I have ever had. He knows his birds and does not make me embarrassed to say that I cannot see the bird, but helps me locate it.

I was able to see the big 5 of Brazil I appreciated Marcus being the first guide to be out in the morning and usually the last one to come in at night.

Best guide I have ever had. He had a challenge to take care of 12 people on this trip. He handled everyone very well and is such a kind man.

The guide, Marcus made the trip a success. He had scheduled tours for early morning and we were busy the entire day.

Marcus made the trip enjoyable and educational and I appreciate his attention to detail.

Very knowledgeable, completely evident to one and all that Marcus knew his stuff and was extremely capable of communicating with the clients. Went above and beyond in helping people and imparting his knowledge on the animals. Also helped co-ordinate and supporting transfer from one venue to another. Excellent!

Our guide, Marcos Felix was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable and full of enthusiasm. He was considerate and always polite. He managed the group well and appeared to be very caring towards members of the group who may have required a degree of support. He had a lovely gentle sense of humour which always makes for good company.

A more upscale lodging along the Transpantaneira in the Pantanal

Definitely a fantastic lodge for a stay en route to Porto Jofre for Jaguar viewing. Those looking for more upscale lodging along the Transpantaneira, good meals, and exceptional guides in this area, this is your lodge.

We personally chose a private, custom itinerary, all reservations secured through SouthWild. This included a guide, 4 lodges, boat rides, and meals.

Some pros and cons to this custom plan, but absolutely, the most exceptional thing SouthWild offered was our guide. We had requested a birding expert, and Marcos Felix surpassed expectations! He was undoubtedly an expert with all wildlife and jaguar behavior. His 20+ years of experience in the area allowed for expertise and relationships with other boaters/guides, so that we captured up front and personal viewings of all that we requested. He also optimized every viewing experience for photography.

From pick up at the airport to drop off at the airport, the trip was flawless. The planning of this trip could have used a tad of improvement in communication and understanding, but, I do feel our custom itinerary contributed to that challenge.
