At the beginning of June 2026, I had the privilege of leading one of the most remarkable wildlife tours of my 25-year career as a guide in the Pantanal.
For 5 days and 4 nights, we focused exclusively on one species: the magnificent Jaguar (Jaguar), the undisputed king of the Pantanal. From airport pickup to airport drop-off, every moment of the expedition was dedicated to searching for and photographing these incredible big cats.
✨ The results exceeded all expectations.
🐆 24 Jaguar sightings during the expedition.
🐆 We were fortunate enough to encounter several different individuals.
🐆 We even had the unique opportunity to give a name to one of the jaguars we observed.
📸 Countless photographic opportunities in perfect light conditions.
As spectacular as the jaguar encounters were, nature still had another surprise waiting for us.
🦦 During one unforgettable morning, we witnessed an incredibly rare and dramatic behavior: a group of Giant Otters (Giant Otter) attacking and killing a pup from a rival group. This is a behavior very rarely documented and even more rarely photographed. Observing and photographing such an event was a reminder that the Pantanal remains one of the world’s greatest natural theaters, where every day can reveal something completely unexpected.
The beautiful Natureza Floating Hotel provided the perfect base for our adventure, allowing us to maximize our time on the rivers and in prime jaguar territory.
🌿 After 25 years guiding visitors through the Pantanal, Cerrado, and Amazon regions of Mato Grosso, experiences like this continue to inspire me. Every jaguar sighting, every sunrise on the river, and every rare wildlife encounter reinforces why I chose this profession a quarter of a century ago.
